Why I Run

“Running brings countless benefits to not only my life, but also to the community.  This awareness has encouraged me to continue. It is truly an honor to contribute to a meaningful cause and to be part of something that makes a positive impact for a fellow citizen.

Each run educates me about the needs of our community through the charitable organizations’ sponsors.  While I was initially excited about keeping myself fit and expanding my social network, I quickly discovered there is a wealth of needs in the community from pediatric cancer research, to affordable housing, and supporting those who protect and serve our country.  While running the Mighty Meehan and feeling the pain as I tried my hardest to sprint that last half mile, I considered the children who underwent the agonies of treatment for their illnesses. I knew my pain was trivial and if my little amount of pain could find a cure, it was worth it.

The benefits of the educational opportunities offered through our College create successful pathways for its students and there’s nothing as meaningful as supporting positive and powerful change. It’s inspiring to be a part of this. I feel both privileged and proud to represent Cape Cod Community College in the Falmouth Road Race.”
